Level: A2.2-B1

Aims: 

To work on the Plurilingual and Attitudinal Competency through the discovery of the Greek Alphabet and Mythology.
To work on the Individual and Conversational Oral Language Production on a Literary Text Competencies (C2, C3, and C10)
To work on the Understanding of the Deeper Structure of a Text Competency (C5)

Length: 2-hour sessions


Session 1:

Activity 1
Students work in fours to write a message back to Chiron using the Greek Alphabet.
They exchange messages with the other groups and they need to decipher the one they receive.
All the messages are read out loud.

Activity 2

Pair, Square, Share

In pairs, they read the text on how humans were given fire and complete it with the verbs in brackets in the Simple Past form.

In fours, they check their answers.

As a class group, they correct the text.

A little discussion is held about the text, its meaning, and the importance of mythology in the Greek world.

Activity 3

In fours, they invent a story using as characters the Greek Gods and Creatures in the pictures. They write bullet points on the sheet provided to use as help when they present the story. They also need to distribute the story among them.

Session 2:

Oral presentations

Students peer assess their classmates and write down a couple of aspects they have liked and a couple that could be improved.


ZERO WASTE FOOD

Level: C1

Activity: Listening homework for students to get acquainted with the different antifood-waste initiatives that are taking place around the world. 

Aim: To develop listening skills and critical thinking.

Post-Activity: Pair-Square-Share  (Pairs: In pairs, come up with one other possible initiative. Square: Discuss it with another group. Share: Share initiatives in classgroup and debate).

Final product: Students produce one shared Pinterest board with a photo that represents their initiative and a slogan below.

Goal:

1- To get students to prepare vocabulary on the topics shown in the film in preparation for a writing.

2- To think about other topics that might have been historically relevant at the time and link them to the present time.

3-  To encourage students to find out about historical characters´ relevance beyond the story shown on films.

4- To synthesize ideas with semantically and grammatically rich language.

SILENCE - Session Plan (A2-B1 Level)



Silence is the topic my school has chosen this year to work on in an interdisciplinary manner throughout the whole year. I have prepared this session for my 11-year-olds.

Skills: Debating, teamworking, negotiating, synthesizing, presenting orally, taking notes and writing creatively.

Length: 3 - 4 sessions

Content:

  1. Teacher´s intructions.
  2. Students´ instructions.
  3. Document to take notes about other groups´ oral presentations.
  4. Document to jot down key words or ideas for their oral presentation.
